As with all cat food recipes the first thing we are going to look at are the first five ingredients. The first five ingredients are a good indication of the quality of the cat food. When looking at the first five ingredients you want to make sure there is plenty of meat and grains are minimal.
Purina Deli-Cat brand Cat Food First Five Ingredients:
- Brewers Rice
- Soybean Meal
- Corn Gluten Meal
- Meat and Bone Meal
- Ground Yellow Corn
Brewers Rice - The dried extracted residue of rice resulting from the manufacture of wort (liquid portion of malted grain) or beer and may contain pulverized dried spent hops in an amount not to exceed 3 percent.
Soy Bean Meal - obtained by grinding the flakes remaining after removal of most of
the oil from de-hulled soybeans by a solvent extraction process.
Corn Gluten Meal - the dried residue from corn after the removal of the larger part of the starch and germ, and the separation of the bran by the process employed in the wet milling manufacture of corn starch or syrup, or by enzymatic treatment of the endosperm.
Meat and Bone Meal - the rendered product from mammal tissues, including bone, exclusive of blood, hair, hoof, horn, hide trimmings, manure, stomach and rumen contents, except in such amounts as may occur unavoidably in good processing practices.
Ground Yellow Corn - same as ground corn, except that the corn used is yellow in color.
